Our story is an illustration of love in action. At Wheat State we care for the whole person. We value our Christian heritage, serve our residents with love, and provide opportunities for spiritual growth and comfort. We provide a haven for veterans and special care for those with all forms of dementia, as well as to some with mental illness.
Wheat State Manor, Inc. has a tremendous heritage of love and caring. Nine churches, two in Whitewater and seven from neighboring communities worked together to make the vision of providing a nursing care home a reality.
An article in the Newton Kansan newspaper (1973) quoted the Rev. Alfred H. Bartter, pastor of the Federated Church, as saying: The proposed home is uniting churches and citizens as nothing before has been able to do!
